with refugees: A Sense of Belonging

A Sense of Belonging
Imagine starting everything all over. Not knowing how things worked. Not knowing where to go for help. Learning a new language. Looking for work to support your family. On top of dealing with the trauma that brought you to Australia in the first place.

This is the situation many refugees experience when they are newly arrived into Australia. There are many things a community can do to love refugees and give them a 'sense of belonging'. Our Community Care event will aim to open our hearts to the opportunity for love, kindness and care.

On the night, we'll:

* watch a short documentary about the experience of being displaced,
* hear a Syrian Refugee family about the first years of living in Australia.
* listen to Minoj Chacko, Senior Minister of South Liverpool Anglican Church about the work their church is doing for refugees
* hear from the City of Ryde about local initiatives we can participate in.

When: Monday 17 June, 7:00- 9:15pm
Where: Christ Church in Gladesville (4 Jordan St Gladesville)
Cost: Free (includes soup and bread from The Bread and Butter Project)
Please RSVP by 13 June so we can cater.

Come, listen and learn how we can give refugees a sense of belonging in Australia.
