The speaker bureau is part of the Refugee Council of Australia’s Face to Face education program. The program trains and mentors refugees in public speaking to share their personal journey story with community audiences.
This event is a collaboration between the City of Sydney and Refugee Council of Australia for Refugee Week 2019.
The City of Sydney Council is a Refugee Welcome Zone
This Refugee Week, share a meal, share a story…
Food is one of the greatest ways we can bring people together and share our cultures with others.
At this lunchtime session, you’ll meet Atra. The Assyrian/Syrian speaker arrived in Australia in 2017 after 6 years of moving from Syria, the UAE, and Lebanon to seek a safe place she can call home.
Atra started studying as soon as she got her foot into Australia. She knew she had opportunities in her new home and she is currently studying at an Australian university.
Please bring your lunch and learn about why people leave, where they go and how they are treated.
