During Refugee Week we celebrate the contribution refugees make to our communities.
On World Refugee Day, June 20, the Immigration Museum Discovery Centre hosts an intimate lunchtime talk with Fadak Alfayadh. Fadak is a lawyer, community advocate and, 16 years ago, she was refugee.
Since 2018, Fadak has been travelling the country, sharing her story of coming to Australia from Iraq. Her mission has been simple: to put a human face to how we see people of refugee backgrounds, and connect all people to a narrative that celebrates our diversity, unity and the life-changing power of communities that say welcome.
Drop in between 12pm and 2pm with your lunch to see Fadak's conversational documentary produced with Road to Refuge, and take the opportunity to ask Fadak your own questions.
In partnership with Road to Refuge, a not-for-profit organisation providing platforms for refugee voices to shape mainstream discourse since 2012.
